Vanila lives and works in Catania. She studied at Catania’s Accademia di Belle Arti, where she gained a distinction for her post-graduate specialisation in Scenography/Set Design, with her thesis concerning Off-Camera experiemental photography. She continued her study of Photography in Spain, at the Facultad de Bellas Artes, in Valencia. Her research focuses principally on experimental photography; on both the physical manipulation of photographic emulsion paper and manipulation of digital photographic imaging. Photography meant/understood as ‘light-writing’ and emotional images, as research and experimentation. The artistic, photographic product – free from seriality – becomes unique and pictorial.
Using these techniques, Vanila Privitera work involves holding experimental photography course for children.
