She is currently the assistant of the Multimedia Installation course at the Accademia di Belle Arti in Catania for the second year running. (Course leader: Anna Guillot)
Tiziana Contino (1979, Catania) completed her degree at the Accademia di Belle Arti. She went on to continue her studies in Turin, obtaining a Masters in Multimedia Technology and Communication. She then returned to Catania, where, in 2007, she completed her Biennio di Specializzazione (two-year post grad. specialisation course) in Graphics, back at the Accademia di Belle Arti.
Tiziana Contino (1979, Catania) is currently the assistant of the ‘Multimedia Installation’ course at the Accademia di Belle Arti in Catania for the second year running. Her work in the field of Visual Arts began in 1998 with an intense approach to painting before moving to photography, video, performance and installation. Between the years 1998-2002 she participated in various exhibitions in Italy and abroad. In 2003 she took part in the Anteprima Quadriennale in Rome, and in serveral other shows and workshops abroad. In 2005 she took part in the BJCEM – XII Biennial for Young European and Mediterranean Artists. In 2006, she participated in various video festivals in Italy and abroad, and she has three staff bases in Turin, Rome and Catania
In 2007, she was selected for the Contemporary Art Festival in Prague, for the video category. In 2008, she stationed exhibitions of video and performance. Her study focuses on Transgenderism, a current topic of thought that encompasses even the most disparate of life’s disciplines: politics, art, culture and religion. Transgenderism is a vision of the behavioural continuum that exists between two polarities: that of the infinite spectre of possibility that presents itself as ‘passing’ from one point to another. Transgenderism, therefore, legitimises the existence of a possible infinity of moments of “identity”. (cit. Helena Velena)
