“FATTIDARTE” is a collective composed of four young Sicilian artists, started in 2006 at the Accademia di Belle Arti, Catania. Having previously worked independently, the four decided to join forces and debut with a joint project at the university that introduced them.
So, on the 6th March 2006, in collaboration with their History of Art professor Viviana Gravano, the group exhibited a performance whose title comes from the refrain of Giorgio Gaber’s famous song “La libertà è partecipazione” (Freedom is Participation), which has become a sort of motto for the group.
With each new project, FATTIDARTE were dedicating themselves more and more to art that is connected to social issues, and to the potential of ‘membership’ (or not) within the urban infrastructure. It holds power and creative insight as the property of all, fasinated with the tight bond that exists between art and daily life. Through different techniques, FATTIDARTE explores and experiments with new ways of communicating and relating to the public. Investigating and documenting, it examines the art of today by looking at what has already taken place, and what is happening right now.
FATTIDARTE is made up of:
Laura Alba: born in Catania on 8th May 1983, she graduated from the Accademia di Belle Arti, Catania, in Scenography. She is currently completing her first year of the biennio specialistico (two year post-graduate specialisation course), also in Scenography.
Massimiliano Di Franca: born in Catania on 24th April 1983, and graduating from the Accademia di Belle Arti, Catania, in Decoration.
Damiano Stingone: born in Catania on 20th January 1984, and graduating from the Accademia di Belle Arti, Catania, in Decoration. He is currently completing his first year of the biennio specialistico, in Graphic Design.
Mariolina Viviano: born in Caltanissetta on 17 September 1983, and graduating from the Accademia di Belle Arti, Catania, in Sculpture.
